The Company
The Hampton Roads Vipers organization was founded by Janet Shelby-Scott in 2005 who has 20+ years experience. Our ages are 3-18 and Adult dance available upon request of information. We offer competitive cheer and parade cheer & dance; All star level 1-3 , parade all ages, hip hop, jazz, pom, and new majorette(half season).
This organization started as a local competition and parade cheer and dance team based out of Hampton, VA. Category was non-select cheer which meant we did not have a sports team and was not required to have team try outs. The goal since the start of this organization is to provide all-star cheer leading and dance at reasonable prices. We try to give every child the opportunity to compete locally and away.We teach leadership, hard-work, dedication. We participate in local parades such as: Southeast community Day Parade, Denbigh Day Parade, and Hampton University Parade. When we first started we competed in PCA ( Peninsula Cheerleading Association) only cheer and dance competitions every season. These competition were all hosted in the state of Virginia in different cities such as; Newport news, Hampton, Williamsburg, and Norfolk. Each season were able to keep prices reasonable because we do tons of fundraisers before we start collecting payments. We teach our girls in house choreography no payment for choreography. Our girls are taught tumbling during practice as well as going to local tumble gym for technique and skill training. As time progressed our organization as grown and gotten stronger.
In 2013 Hampton Roads Vipers participated in their first USASF sanctioned competition in Richmond,VA as youth level 1 all-star prep placed 2nd. This opened a whole new door and level to our team. Since that first USASF competition we have been able to attend more in different location and place 1st,2nd,or 3rd in every event that we have entered. We have now been to other parts of VA, MD, NC , and recently TN. We were even 2016 youth hip hop dance champions; we won 1st place in Virginia Beach at the The Finale. Over the years we have done majorette competitions, Relay for life event, and other shows upon request and availability. The girls get a wide range of experience and leadership skills. We do participate in All-star prep category because of the size of our organization and the gym status, but we strike as hard as necessary each time.
We take our practices seriously, we take our performances seriously, and our skill. We go to bring the house down and leave you shocked. We love to travel to new places, experience new teams,and show our support to everyone that competes. VIPERS ” we are the true meaning of Dedication, Spirit, Sportsmanship, and Teamwork".
